Everything is Pink

Izabella loves everything pink. When she goes to sleep at night she tells me, "I am going to dream of pink princesses in pink castles and pink ponies and pink ice cream and pink school buses that take me to pink school etc.. etc.. etc.." Of course mom loves it because I love pink too. And what is cuter than a little girl in pink? Here she is in a dress up pink ballerina outfit with a pink feather in her hair.

Duncan is 7 in '08

We had a birthday this past weekend!! Our Duncan, aka Deddlebug, turned 7 years old with a bang. We did a big birthday party at the local bowling alley with balloons, pizza, presents and cake and ice cream!! What a blast!!

We had a blast bowling. We had some strikes, spares, and even (for all you bowlers out there) a 7-10 split!

On Duncan's actual birthday, we had his best friend's family over for dinner and cake and ice cream to celebrate our deddlebug's birthday.

Promises

I am keeping my promise to update my blog more often than once a year. Here are just a few glimpses at our past few weeks.

Not what most people do on Thanksgiving

For the past year we have been struggling to get our VCR to work. When we think about it, we try to fiddle around and get it to work, with no luck. Finally, we have realized that it is just too old. This was the original VCR we got when we got married 15 years ago, and it is just too outdated to work with the more updated technology. So we had to go get a new one. The old one is just trash, unable to be even used for parts. So on Thanksgiving day Theran and Jake spent the day taking apart the old VCR and figuring out how it all works. Jake thought it was the coolest thing ever.

Dec 2008 update

We had our annual ward Christmas party this past weekend. This year was especially meaningful because mom is now on the activities committee. I did get to sneak away from my duties to snap a few pictures of the kids with Santa. If you can see Ashton's mad face you'll laugh to know that he was mad and wouldn't sit on Santa's lap because Santa wasn't daddy. He knew that the suit Santa has on is ours, so he thought it was Theran being "Santa's Helper". He was MAD it wasn't dad.
My girls. The most beautiful things in the world to me.
I thought Bella was going to freak out sitting on Santas lap. But she told him she wanted "Dora". Anything Dora will do for her.
Duncan, our almost 7 yr. old telling Santa what he wants for Christmas.

I have been sooooo bad about my blog and I am the first to admit it. But in my defense we had many months there where we were having major computer problems. Finally our old computer bit the dust and we had to buy a new one. But I really do not make time to do this enough...obviously!! I will try to do better in the future!! I promise it won't be this bad (almost a year) ever again. So, for those that have stuck with me and check my blog every once in a while to see if I ever get on line and update my blog, I hope you enjoy a little snip of the past few months of our family.
This summer the kids and I went away for a few days and when we came home look what daddy had picked up for the family! Her name is Peaches and she is totally loved and part of our family now. But it was quite a surprise at the time.
This summer we had the most fabulous trip to Disney World! We met our Nana and Gonka (grandma and grandpa) and made lifetime memories together. The kids are still talking about how fun it was. We almost melted from the heat, but the kids never complained once! It was one of the funnest times we have had together.

Two tired and hot kids after a day at The Wild Animal Kingdom.
Apple picking is one of our favorite fall traditions. We picked lots of apples this year and we are still eating them all.
Ashton loves going apple picking each year. He always has to have his own bag to fill, and has to pick only apples with no worm holes.

Christmas

This Christmas we were able to take our whole family and have Christmas with our cousins and families in Utah. We had so much fun and two solid weeks on fun and play with everyone. We wanted our kids to play with all thier cousins that we so rarely get to see and miss so much. Everyone was so kind and welcoming and always available. We thank everyone for thier hospitality and availabilty to play so much while we were there. Our children have some wonderful memories that will tide us over until we are together again. We love and miss you all already!!

Christmas 2007

The one requirement we had while in Utah was to see lots and lots of our cousins. With all the fun activities that were planned, we definately got to see our fun cousins and had such a good time. Thank you everyone for always playing with us!

Two beautiful girls that became fast friends on our trip.

Izabellas favorite thing of the whole trip was Brooksy, Nanas dog. She was such a patient, sweet thing with Izabella. She let Izabella hug and love her all the time. She even let Bella feed her treats and shared them with Izabella without ever complaining. We miss you Brooksy

Something that seems to becoming a tradition is to dye our hair everytime we go to Utah. These boys love doing it and have so much fun together in the blonde club. They were so pleased with themselves and Aunt Renee does such a great job. Thanks Aunt Renee!!!

One unexpected treat we got this Christmas was to get to see our cousin Austin. He was able to come visit us the night before we left and it was such a Christmas surprize. We love you Austin and miss you Andrew. Cousins are the best!!!

Look at these cute boys!! Jake just loves his cousin Austin. They don't get to see eachother very often becuase Austin lives in Texas, so this was such a treat!!

We had a surprise visitor for Christmas Eve, but Izabella wasn't so sure about him.

Much to mom and dad's chagrin, Duncan continued to ask Santa to bring him a rabbit for Christmas even though mom kept wxplaining there was no way to get the rabbit home from Utah if Santa brought it for Christmas.

We had such a fun Christmas Eve party together with our Selph cousins. We took the kids over to a local chruch house and played games and had a pinata and had all sorts of good times together. Thanks to Uncle E and Aunt Melissa for putting together the pinata for us, the kids just loved it!!

Three fat, cute , dirty girls.

These are the two cousins that were both born within a few weeks of Izabella. She doesn't get to see them very often and it is hard to get a picture with all 3 in the same frame. They are busy girls usually running in 3 different directions. We had to contain them in the bathtub to get all 3 in a picture together.

Bella loves to read!!! She is never happier than when someone is reading a story to her, especially if it is a Dora the Explorer story.

Of course it would feel like Christmas without the chaos of a cousins nativity.Lots of work but very fun and worth the work to remember the real reason for the season.

Joseph and Mary thought they were pretty cool with Jesus the teddybear.

Izabella was an angel and thought she was pretty cool.

The Gingerbread decorating contest was fierce competition. But there were lots of winners, expecially in the 70's style, flat roofed with the Grinch on the rooftop category.

Getting ready to trim the tree with Nana!!

Dress-up is always #1 fun at Nanas house.

Nana and Izabella had a lot of fun together. They were fast friends and mom got a few days out to play with the older kids. Thanks Nana!!
