You all may wonder what we do on snow day after snow day in the Selph household to stay sane. Well, sanity is over rated by many so we just concentrate on survival. Each has their own coping skills. Madsyn decided to put her Christmas decorating presents to work and make us all a treat. (It didn't last too long) Jake hasn't moved from this position other than to add a log to the fire behind him. He uses his feet as sensors as to when the fire begins to get too low. The others flutter between gameboys, playdough, hide and seek, TV,dress-up, and the many toys and car tracks set up to occupy the MANY hours we have been trapped in this house together. The next storm is suppose to be on its way. Just a small one this time. But won't it be so much fun if school is called off again. I might need valium by friday afternoon.
Peaches... well this is what she wants all the time, snow day or not. If you throw her ball for her, she will be your friend for life.

After the Storm
Okay I think the storm has passed and we are digging our way out. It is hard to tell how much snow is really out there in a picture... but take a look at the grill. The side area gives you an idea of how much snow we got in that storm. It is really heavy, wet snow too. We lost power for a time during the storm, but our generator took care of us, and it wasn't for very long. It is a beautiful winter wonderland here.
January Snow...I'd rather be in Cancun
This is the view outside my front and back of my house right now. Here is our annual "Big" storm we get every year or every other year that shuts our city down. You can't see it in these pictures for some reason, but it is snowing quite hard. This storm started last night with ice. Underneath all this is about and inch or even two of solid ice. Now it has started to snow on top of that. It has been snowing for about two hours and we are suppose to have 8-10 more hours. So we are holed up in our home, no school and nowhere to go. Of course Theran went to work...it is too much work to stay home. It is quieter at the office and he doesn't have to do as much. I'll give you the after shot once it stops snowing in a few hours. This is suppose to be a big one!

Fort Rapids Weekend
This past weekend we had a 4 day weekend. After mom got through crying and feeling sorry for myself, we decided to go have a little fun. So we went and stayed at Fort Rapids. It is an indoor water park here in Columbus. We had a blast. It was -10 below outside, but we were having fun in the water. The older three were scarce to be found until they got hungry and came searching for food. They were too busy going over and over again on all the bit water slides. The littler ones and I were more in the play area. We spent the night and did two full days of water sliding fun. Here are a few picts to share from the fun.

Duncan looses his front tooth
We had a great event last night. Duncan lost his front tooth. He is the funniest kid. He showed me it was loose about 6:30 p.m. So I told him to wiggle it as much as he could so that it would loosen up and come out in the next few days. By 8p.m. that night it was sitting at an angle and hurting him like crazy because he had wiggled it so hard. I put some orajel on it and got him ready for bed and told him to leave it alone until the next day. I went to put Izabella to sleep and by the time I came to tuck him in it was gone. He told his dad it was bothering him and Theran always willing to use the needle-nose pliers to get a tooth out grabbed them quickly and pulled before anyone even knew what happened. Duncan was so glad to have it out and got his golden dollar from the tooth-fairy last night. Mom is sad because the perfect smile is gone. I love Duncan's little smile and now we'll have to see if with his grown-up teeth it will ever be the same. But I have a long time to wait until all those teeth are in and the little ones gone.
A close up view of the great event!!

Christmas 2008
This Christmas we had the best present ever!! My sister and her husband and brand new baby came to spend Christmas with us. My Mom and Dad who were staying with them to help for a few weeks also came and we all got to spend Christmas together. It was heaven!! Not only did we get our family to be with us on Christmas, but we got to share in Miss Bentley Ann's first Christmas. What a blessing family is.
Madsyn got an easy-bake oven from Santa and it has been cakes and cookies ever since!!
Izabella Rose got shoes, baby dolls and ballerina outfits from Santa. Is there anything else more important for a 2 yr old?
I The 7 a.m. wake-up call/screaming was a little early for some, especially the new mom up with a baby throughout the night. But of course Alyssa was a great sport about it all and didn't want to miss out on all the action, or perhaps it was that she couldn't sleep through all the chaos. Which do you think it was?
One thing about having children, especially boys, is you find yourself doing things you never thought you would. Like allowing them, even buying them guns to play with. These airsoft guns are suppose to be safe and we have had the gun-safety lessons, but who would have thought mom would have come up with that idea?
